Two museums in Changsha enter China's top 100 list

The list of top 100 popular museums in China in the first quarter of 2024 was released on April 7. Hunan Museum ranked 26th. Changsha Museum ranked 40th, 6th among the top 100 municipal-level museums in China as well as 5th among the top 100 museums in provincial capitals.

The list of “Chinese Museum Trending Searches” is generated based on the national annual report information system of museums, the top 100 popular museums in the past, small and medium-sized museums, and museums innovation observation sample library. 6,565 registered museums in China were included in the statistical system. At the same time, the top 100 popular museums at the municipal level were also released for the first time.

Since this year, Changsha Museum has become a popular museum in the country. As the sub venue of 2024 CCTV Spring Festival Gala was set up in the Xinhe Delta, Changsha Riverside Cultural Park, where Changsha Museum is located, has quickly become a top destination in Changsha. 

Meanwhile, in the first quarter of 2024, large-scale exhibitions were launched in Changsha Museum, such as “The Great Empire-Jin: Selected Cultural Relics of the Western and Eastern Zhou Dynasties Excavated from Shanxi Area”, “Path of Fusion: Migration and Development Course of Tuoba Xianbei”, and “Jiachen Dragon Year Zodiac Cultural Relics Exhibition”, which have driven up the popularity of the museum.

According to the statistical monitoring system of the cultural tourism industry in Hunan, during the 3-day Qingming Festival holiday this year, the top three scenic spots in Changsha monitored for the number of tourists received were Orange Isle Scenic Area with 181,495 million visitors, Yuelu Mountain Scenic Area with 32,183 visitors, and Changsha Museum with 29,921 visitors.
