Calligraphers and painters send blessings in Lijiachong Community

An activity to send hand-written Chinese character “” (fú, meaning blessings) was held in Lijiachong Community, Kaifu District, Changsha City on January 15.

Eight well-known calligraphers and painters showed their talent in the activity, allowing residents to experience a joyous atmosphere of the upcoming Chinese New Year in advance. There was much red paper for calligraphers to write on, which created an aura of the festival. Calligraphers and painters wrote “fu” in a round shape vigorously with brushes, and wrote blessings of the Chinese New Year. The character “fu” means fortune and symbolizes people’s expectations for a beautiful life and a bright future.

Sifangping Street, located at the core of Kaifu District, is a populous place. According to Zhang Ying, member of the working committee, Sifangping Street attaches importance to people’s cultural life while striving to develop economy. It has established an integrated cultural service center, a university of the elderly, a branch library of Changsha Library, and a display hall of intangible cultural heritages, and taken other measures to promote traditional culture, making great achievements in both economy and culture.

The New Year couplets of “Everything goes well” not only convey new year blessings to the residents, but enrich their cultural life during festivals. It created a joyous and festive atmosphere, enabled people to benefit from cultural activities, and received much praise from residents.
