The list of happiest cities in China in 2023 was released at the Happy Cities of China Forum 2023 held in Chengdu, Sichuan on November 24, and Changsha has been rated as the “happiest city in China” for 16 consecutive years. 

Changsha County, Liuyang City, and Ningxiang City were also awarded the title of “China’s Happiest Cities (County-level Cities) in 2023”.

The activity aimed to promote practical experience in the construction and development of happy cities through the survey on the happiness of Chinese cities with the theme of “high-quality development makes cities happier”.

Changsha is striving to build the “three highlands” of national important advanced manufacturing, technological innovation with core competitiveness, and inland reform and opening up. 

With the increasing comprehensive strength, Changsha ranked among the “China’s Top Ten Cities for Night Economy Vitality Index”, and the top ten most attractive cities for talents in China. It was honored as one of the “Top 10 Benchmark Cities for China’s High-Quality Development” and the “Best City for Business Environment in 2023”.

It is also a “revolutionary history museum without walls”, and has been selected among China’s top ten influential cities for urban night economy for three consecutive years.

Besides, it was listed as one of the top ten tourist cities for beautiful life in China and ranked first in the list of the 2023 China’s Most Livable Cities. 

“Happiness is the most genuine inner feeling of the people, and the construction of a happy city has no end,” said Chen Peng, minister of the Publicity Department of the Changsha Municipal Party Committee, adding that Changsha sincerely invites everyone to visit and invest in Changsha to experience the unique charm and beautiful life of Changsha.
