Five international trade channels achieve remarkable results

Recently, the Department of Commerce of Hunan Province released the achievements of the five major international trade channels in Hunan made in 2023.

1,173 China-Europe freight train trips were operated in Hunan in 2023, with the number of train trips exceeding 1,000 for three consecutive years, ranking fourth in China.

According to Xingsha Customs, CRE (Changsha) has regularly operated 14 routes to nearly 100 cities in 30 Asian and European countries and the return freight train trips from Europe have also been made regularly. 

At the same time, the China-Europe freight train has helped the local manufacturing industry in Hunan to expand overseas markets. In 2023, more than 230 special train trips were operated for the advanced manufacturing enterprises such as Zoomlion and Sany Heavy Industry, and the value of transported equipment manufacturing products such as automobiles and their components as well as engineering machinery was doubled year on year. 

Now, the value of goods transported by China-Europe freight trains accounts for 52% of the total value of Hunan, an increase of 12% compared to 2022.

Hunan-Guangdong-Africa rail and sea intermodal transportation started from Zhuzhou, Hengyang, and Chenzhou, with a total of 622 train trips, a year-on-year increase of 127%. In addition, 455 Huaihua-ASEAN freight train trips were launched, skyrocketing 201% year on year. The two rail and sea intermodal transportation routes achieved year-on-year growth, with the proportion of local goods transported through the Hunan-Guangdong-Africa channel exceeding 90%, and the proportion of local goods transported through the Huaihua-ASEAN channel reaching 78%.

The container throughput of Chenglingji Port in Yueyang was 1.2016 million TEUs. The international direct sailing route to Vladivostok, Russia starting from Chenglingji Port is the first direct waterway route from Hunan to Russia, with 2.5 two-way direct sailing trips to Russia and 8.5 two-way direct sailing trips to Hong Kong throughout the year 2023.

The airports in Hunan resumed and added 37 international flight routes in 2023, with 6,173 inbound and outbound flights under customs’ supervision, surging 305.7% year on year.
