During the National Day holiday, Changsha North Railway Station was busy with transportation. 8,055 vehicles were dispatched to load and unload cargoes in 8 days, an increase of 31% over the same period in 2022.

Among them, 12 China-Europe freight train trips were operated, an increase of 17% over the same period last year. In particular, on September 29 and October 1, the number of loading and unloading vehicles at the station was 1,165 and 1,202 respectively, breaking the historical record for two consecutive times in just 72 hours.

During the National Day holiday, the continuous growth of container cargoes and return China-Europe freight trains, coupled with the shortage of labor, the pressure of loading and unloading trucks at Changsha North Railway Station increased significantly, and the station tracks were used relatively frequently.

In order to ensure the smooth completion of the transportation tasks, Changsha North Railway Station strengthened the communication with the dispatching office of China Railway Guangzhou Group and the freight, locomotive, vehicles and other railway departments in the station, established an efficient and orderly cooperation mechanism, optimized the operation plan of loading and unloading trucks, and rationally arranged the use of station tracks.

The station staff worked overtime during the holiday, ensuring the rapid dispatching of vehicles and greatly improving the transportation efficiency. Since September, as the country’s largest container put into use at Changsha North Railway Station, the cargo transportation capacity and the volume of freight traffic have increased.

Jiang Xueyi, head of Changsha North Railway Station, introduced that during the holiday, the loading and unloading vehicles were used and returned timely to ensure that the trains, especially the China-Europe freight trains, left safely on time.
