Tourism and Food Experience Season kicks off in Changsha

The Tourism and Food Experience Season kicked off in Changsha on August 7. 

As an important part of cultural and tourism consumption, food plays a crucial role in promoting the development of the tourism economy and stimulating residents’ consumption.

With abundant resources and a long history, Hunan has developed a rich and unique food culture. Such food as Stir-fried Pork with Chili Peppers, Steamed Fish Head with Chopped Chili and Changsha Stinky Tofu become must-eat dishes for tourists who come to Hunan. 

As one of the series of activities for the promotion of Hunan tourism and cuisine, this tourism and cuisine experience season will be carried out in 13 cities and one prefecture. 

In Changsha, ten themed tourism food banquets will be presented, allowing those come to Changsha to sample different Hunan cuisine. Well-known chefs from ten famous catering enterprises in Hunan like Qinhuang Restaurant, Binghuolou, Xuji Seafood and Fire God Palace will offer their signature dishes. Representatives from various industries, young students, influencers and tourists to Hunan will  taste, assess and promote the food.

The Tourism and Food Experience Season will also showcase tourism and food related art and calligraphy works, books, intangible cultural heritage Hunan embroidery, cultural and creative products. It aims to drive the innovative development of Hunan cuisine, and promote it through mew media platforms. 

At the same time, more characteristic cultural tourism food banquets will be encouraged to attract consumers and form a consumption trend. 

What’s more, a food exploration program created by HNTV is currently being filmed, which will jointly innovate new paths to promote tourism development with food.
