At present, the 17 canteens for the elderly have been put into operation in Kaifu District. And another 6 to 8 canteens are planned this year.

At lunch time, the canteen for the elderly in Hehuachi Community of Kaifu District is crowded with the elderly. There are eight dishes to be chosen, including Braised Duck with Konjak Tofu and Scrambled Egg with Tomato. 

When it came to the food and service of the canteen, Grandma Zhu lauded that the dishes are tasty and various. Since the opening last month, she and her companions have dined in the canteen on time every day. The dishes feature a reasonable proportion of meat and vegetables and taste good.

The canteens for the elderly have now covered 13 sub-districts in the whole district, which benefit 17,000 old people. Efforts are being made to cover 16 sub-districts with the canteens at the end of this year. 

In addition, 65 old-age service stations above 2A level in the district will serve as canteens for the elderly this year, which will serve more than 200,000 people throughout the year.
