Flower-drum opera in Changsha had a glorious history in the 20th century. With the aging of the people who love flower-drum opera, there are much fewer audience off the stage.

In recent years, Changsha Flower-drum Opera Protection and Inheritance Center has created many plays with modern themes such as the “Pig Commander”, which integrates the local flower-drum opera and folk songs with rock, jazz, rap, etc. Accompanied by the national instruments such as dulcimer and pipa and western instruments such as guitar and bass, the opera told the story of social development and rural revitalization.

Nowadays, flower-drum opera can be promoted through short videos and livestreaming platforms. So far, the troupe has held more than 30 livestreaming sessions, attracting a large number of young audience on the Internet platforms.
