Changsha has been depressed by cold rains for 50 days. From 8:00 a.m.on April 13 to 8:00 a.m. on April 14, there was moderate to heavy rain in Changsha, with downpour in some areas. The city’s average rainfall was 26.6 mm, with a maximum precipitation of 50.6 mm (in Minfu Village, Qiaoyi Town, Wangcheng District) and a maximum 1-hour rainfall of 12.3 mm (in Minfu Village, Qiaoyi Town, Wangcheng District). As of 8:00 a.m. on April 14, the city’s cumulative precipitation this year was 415.1 mm, down by 1.6% compared to the same period of the previous year (422.2 mm).

The good news is that this rainy season is about to leave. According to the Changsha Meteorological Station forecast, April 14 is expected to see rains in the morning, with a maximum 1-hour rainfall of 10 mm to 20 mm. On April 15, Changsha will be cloudy with scattered showers. Starting from April 16, fair weather will come back.

However, according to the Meteorological Department, the northeastern Ningxiang, Wangcheng District, the northern Changsha County, northern Liuyang have accumulated rainfall of more than 100 mm. Water-laden soil in these areas raises the risk of geohazards, therefore concerned authorities must strengthen precautions.

As the rain ends, Changsha’s temperature will also quickly rebound, with the highest temperature of 24℃ this weekend. Later this week, Changsha people can enjoy the lovely spring days, and finally get their clothes sunbathed.
