The post-80s and post-90s generations grew up with cartoons, and they are familiar with animation moguls like Hayao Miyazaki. As they became parents, classic animation could be said to be a natural link between parents and children. On January 15 and 24, there will be two concerts focusing on animation music in Changsha Concert Hall, that is Audio-Visual Concert of Frozen Animation Classic Musics and Oscar World Classic Film Golden Melody Concert, including My Neighbor Totoro, City of Sky, Frozen, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella and other masterpieces, which are very suitable for parents and children to enjoy together.

To find yourlittle princess in Frozen

The animation film Frozen released in 2013 and the sequel launched in 2019 have successfully created the two princesses Anna and Elsa in the small Kingdom of Arendelle. Elsa is dignified and elegant and Anna is lively and cheerful. Both of them subvert the image of princess waiting for the prince’s salvation in western fairy tales. They dare to face their own fears, use their own strength and bear their own responsibilities, finally grow into an independent woman. Frozen also captures the hearts of children around the world, telling them “every girl is her own princess”.

The popularity of Frozen has also become a “nightmare” for some parents, because the little daughters are so obsessed with anything associated with the label Frozen, such as glittering gowns, wands and crowns. And now, it’s the music of Frozen which will be played in Changsha.

After learning about the news, Ms. Long immediately went to Changsha Concert Hall and bought 6 tickets, though her child is only about 4 years old. It is a surprise that children as young as her daughter are allowed to the concert. The magic of Frozen can be seen that even such a small child are looking forward to watching.

There will be music pieces of Frozen played during the two concerts. “Let It Go” will be performed on January 15. The background of this song is that the protagonist Elsa is born with the magic power. She lives a life full of fears and constraints because she can cause damage to others. In the end, she decides to break free and escape from the castle.

To find peace of mind in music from Hayao Miyazakis works

Changsha has held many concerts related to Hayao Miyazaki’s works almost every year, which shows the strong vitality of this art brand and the recognition of the audience. On January 24, many music pieces from Hayao Miyazaki’s works will be presented. When it comes to Hayao Miyazaki’s films, apart from the fresh and romantic realistic hand-painted styles, the quiet and comfortable music is also a massive hit, which definitely attributes to Joe Hisaishi, Hayao Miyazaki’s partner.

Joe Hisaishi’s music writing style is inclined to the new age music which gradually developed after the 1980s. It mainly creates a relaxed atmosphere through transparent and mysterious timbres, so that people can forget the real troubles, obtain a moment of tranquility and immerse themselves in a relaxed and peaceful state.

My Neighbor Totoro and City of Sky will be presented in the upcoming concert. The former creates a happy and peaceful rural scene, revealing a childlike innocence. The latter depicts the picture of “the city of sky” floating away in the vast universe with a hint of sadness through the cooperation of various musical instruments like trumpet, horn, harp, violin, cello and flute.

Both performances will take an audio-visual mode, that is, while the orchestra is playing on the stage, the electronic display screen will also play the corresponding movie scenes. It is because film music is originally created to fit the specific plot. The reappearance of film pictures can make the audience enjoy this artistic feast better.

Changsha Concert Hall reminds the audience to take epidemic prevention measures  when watching the performance, including showing the health code and itinerary code, wearing masks, sitting in the right seats and not changing seats at will. Visitors can refund their tickets unconditionally if they are unable to watch the performance due to coming from high-risk areas.
